● What’s (the name of) your hometown(again)?

I came from the beautiful coastal city Qingdao.

● Is that a big city or a small place?

It is located in Shandong province, compared to other metropolis such as

Shanghai and Beijing, it’s not so big. But I like it because there’re many famous

tourist resorts in the city, so sometimes I can go around there to enjoy the

beautiful scenery. Also, I can enjoy many public facilities, such as the big public

libraries and many beautiful parks.

● Please describeyour hometown a little.

Located in eastern Shangdong Province, Qingdao is the most significant seaport

of eastern China. With red roof tiles, green trees, azure seas and blue skies, the whole city reflects a harmony between the old European-style building and the

modern skyscrapers. With beautiful view, nice environment and pleasant climate, Qingdao is really a good place for people to live in.

● How long have you been lived there?

I was born and raised there. Now, I’ve lived there for more than twenty years. I

love the city because it’s beautiful and clean and the people are friendly.

● Do you like your hometown?

I like the scenery and the cleanness of the city. I love the beautiful sea.

Sometimes I would ride my bike along the coast. It’s such a wonderful place.

Although there’re always a lot of travelers, I can always find my own quiet place to

enjoy myself. This can really help me feel close to the nature.

No, I don’t. Although I love the beautiful scenery and the friendly person there,

the traffic is so terrible that I have had enough of it. You know, it is predominant in

the fast-paced life today. I like the metropolis such as Beijing and Shanghai.

● (Possibly) Do you like living there?

Yes, of course. You know, I was born there. I love the beautiful scenery, pleasant

climate and friendly people there. I feel I have been integrated with it. With the

rapid progress of the economy, I believe Qingdao will become a international metropolis in the future.

No, I don’t. Because the transportation there is really bad, especially in the

tourist season. Every time you goes out, you will encounter the traffic jam. It really

needs an improvement.

● What do you like (most) about your hometown?

I really like the pleasant climate there. You know, nearing the sea, it’s not too

cold in winter and not that hot in summer. I love the agreeable climate there.

● Is there anything you dislike about it?

Well, the transportation there is bad, especially in the tourist season. Almost

every time you goes out, you will encounter the traffic jam. Maybe after the

construction of the metro station, the problem will be solved. I really hope so.

● Do you think you will continue living there for a long time?

Yes, I do. Having been living there for more than 20 years, I am very familiar

with the city. With the beautiful scenery, the agreeable climate, the friendly people

and the improved transportation as well as the rapid development of economy, I

think it will become a more wonderful place for us to live in. So I’ll continue to live

there.

No, I don’t. You know, I am young and ambitious. And I want to go to the

metropolis like Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai. Because there are more

opportunities and more convenient facilities there.

Being alone

● Do you like to be alone?

No, I don’t. I like staying with other people. Being alone may make me crazy.

Yes, I do. Being alone may offer me the opportunity to think about something

calmly. And I really enjoy the wonderful time that I can do somethings I’d like to

do.I needn’t negotiate with others any more.

● What do you like to do when you are alone?

I usually listen to music, watch movies, read books and exercises, which may

alleviate the loneliness.

● Do you like to spend time with your friends or just stay at home on your own?

I like to spend time with my friends. Because I am an outgoing girl, and I like

going shopping or hanging out with my friends. I can’t stand staying at home by

myself. That is terrible.

I like to stay at home on my own. Because I am an introverted girl, and I like

staying at home reading books, listening to music or doing housework. I can do want I want to do freely, without negotiations with others.

● When was the last time you were being alone?

In the last summer vacation, I didn’t go home and stayed at school doing a

part-time job. I stayed in the dormitory by myself. And it was really a hard time.

Being in a hurry.

● When was the last time you did something in a hurry?

It was yesterday morning that I went to a school for my first class as a substitute

teacher. I got lost and arrived school 2 minutes before the beginning of the class. It was really a hurry.

● Do you like to finish things quickly?

Yes, I do. I tend to finish things quickly. If I have some things needed to do, I

will feel comfortable and don’t be in the mood to do other things. So I am fond of

finishing things quickly.

No, I don’t. You know, I am a scrupulous person. I am fond of doing things

slowly, which doesn’t mean that I am inefficient. Because doing things in a hurry may brings mistakes to the result. So I will choose the quality rather than than the quantity.

● What kinds of things will you never do in a hurry?

I’ll never do the important things in a hurry. You know, I am a scrupulous person.

And I usually do things in detail, especially the important things. If I do them in a

hurry, it will lead to serious consequences.

● Why do people make mistakes more easily when they are in a hurry?

Because if they do something in a hurry, they tend to neglect the details. What

they pursue is not the quality but the quantity, so they may make mistakes

inadvertently. And that’s why we should slow down when we do the important

thing.
